New Textbook by DHRM: Selected Chapters of Labour Law – With Examples and Case Law

Authors from the Department of Human Resource Management, JUDr. David Šmíd, Ph.D., and Mgr. Adolf Šmíd, have published a new textbook:

Selected Chapters of Labour Law: With Examples and Case Law

The publication presents a collection of selected chapters in the field of labour law, focusing on the key institutions of individual employment relationships under the Labour Code. The authors have adopted an explanatory approach aimed at rendering the legal framework accessible not only to students of law and economics faculties, but also to a broader professional and lay readership. The text systematically addresses fundamental issues relating to the establishment, modification, and termination of employment, agreements on work performed outside an employment relationship, the service of documents in labour-law relations, obstacles to work, and the respective obligations of employers and employees. The commentary also encompasses the institution of the employment certificate and the employer’s reference. The authors did not intend to provide an exhaustive account of labour law; rather, their objective was to offer readers a structured overview of selected institutes that are most frequently applied in practice.

The publication places particular emphasis on integrating theoretical analysis with the practical dimensions of labour-law practice. Readers will find not only a concise summary of the applicable legal framework and its systematic interpretation, but also references to related legislation and commentary on recurring practical challenges. The exposition reflects the current state of legislation and incorporates its most recent amendments, including developments in the area of electronic service of documents.
